Giant Scroll Bar Theater: Anti-American Female Posters

In the mid-1990's some horrible linguist discovered that the Internet was rife with miscommunications because it is incredibly difficult to convey complex emotions with only text. Many gifted poets and authors spend their entire lives contending with this problem, so what hope does the average Joe Download have of avoiding the unintentional faux pas in his chats and emails? This is the origin of that irritating device, the emoticon. It's ironic, really, that people have been using punctuations they never knew how to use properly in order to overcome the hurtles of web communication. Maybe one in every ten-thousand English speakers know how to use a semicolon for its intended purpose, but there are millions of borderline-illiterate teens who know that it makes a winking smiley face when combined with a close-parenthesis.

If it isn't apparent, I'm generally not a fan of emoticons or of Internet lingo in general. But sometimes I wish it was present just to clear up any confusion. Take this blog, for instance. It is nothing but a massive collection of ridiculous, offense and often nonsensical photoshop posters that are so misogynistic they make Sean Connery look like Gloria Steinem. I don't quite know what to make of the site, though, because I'm well aware of just how replete with trolls the Internet is these days. Is Anti-American Female Posters an elaborate joke, or is this guy serious? All it would take to clear the air is a well-placed :-) or the occasional "lol j/k totes not a @$$hole".

But our user, Reality2008, doesn't limit himself to just really bad photoshops accusing all women of simultaneously being militant fascist lesbians and gold-digging castration experts. He has thirteen other blogs that dwarf AAFP in both length and stupidity. His blog, For Men Marriage Is A Lose/Lose Prospect he posits ironclad logic like "If your car was as reliable as marriage, every time you got in it you would have a one in two chance of crashing". Curiously, his blog "Fathers Are Better Parents" has no entries. Although that might just be a meta-commentary because WOMEN STEAL MEN'S LIFE ESSENCE TO FUEL THEIR GREEDY, WRETCHED WOMBS.

Currently, Reality2008 has a blog or two under review by blogspot for possibly violating the terms of service. I can't imagine why. After looking through these awfully designed sub-rants I can't honestly say they're a joke. There's no irony in them and they smack of Internet sophism, i.e. "compare everything to Nazis and demonstrate your misunderstanding of statistics in the most embarrassing way possible". Of course, maybe I just don't get it because I have a healthy relationship with my mother.

Amount of Time Likely to be Wasted: It depends on how many of Reality2008's blogs you're willing to read. Even with content overlap these things are loaded beyond reason. You're looking at an hour at least.

Likelihood to Result in Arrest in Real Life: High. This level of misogyny bleeds over into the flesh all the time. Whether it's being dragged from a strip club because "she was practically begging for it" or just a standard domestic abuse charge, this guy has a thin blue line leading directly to his condo.

MCDR: Look at some porn, but not that ugly, dirty, raunchy stuff. I'm talking about those classy "art nudes" sites with chicks riding horses and lounging around on impossibly luxurious beds. That stuff is post-feminism all the way.

Internet Depth by Preposition: In. These blogs make reference to real life, but technically so do comic books. It's hopelessly mired in Net culture and it's never getting out.
